The “The Patty Duke Show,” actor Eddie Applegate passed away on October 17, 2016. Applegate died at a nursing home in Los Angeles after a long illness. He was 81. Applegate will be best remembered for playing Patty Lane’s steadfast high school sweetheart on the 1960s sitcom “The Patty Duke Show”.
Born on October 4, 1935 in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, Eddie Applegate got recognisation in entertainment industry through a sitcom. Mr. Applegate played Richard Harrison, Patty’s hapless but devoted boyfriend, on the 1960s sitcom “The Patty Duke Show,” which was broadcast on ABC from 1963-66. He was also part of many other televison series like “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” “Daktari” and “Gunsmoke”. He also made apparences in films like “A Ticklish Affair” (1963) and “Easy A” (2010). In 1999, Applegate reprised the role of Richard Harrison in television movie “The Patty Duke Show: Still Rockin' in Brooklyn Heights,” in which he aws shown as Patty Lane's ex-husband. Away from telescreen he was also fond of painting and called himself as a "Realist to Impressionist painter". An active member and Vice President of the San Fernando Valley Art Club, he is survived by his children, Michael, John, Heather Lasko and a large extended family.
